- "Even somethin' as ordinary as a rootleaf can be transformed into a feast if you cook it up right. Few folks realize you can roast an entire head of the stuff and carve it just like a hunk of roast shaak. It's got all the potent flavor of my Rootleaf Stew recipe, and it's only about half as pungent!"
- ―Strono Tuggs, The Life Day Cookbook
Rootleaf was a type of vegetable with a light green head of leaves that was used as a common ingredient in cooking. Dishes that used rootleaf included rootleaf stew and Roasted Rootleaf.[2] In 3 ABY,[3] the exiled Jedi Yoda prepared a rootleaf stew in his hut on the planet Dagobah and ate it with the human Jedi-in-training Luke Skywalker.[1] The Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs included a recipe for a pungent rootleaf stew in his first cookbook, The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook,[4] in 34 ABY,[5] and a recipe for Roasted Rootleaf in his second cookbook, The Life Day Cookbook.[2]
