Rove was a large barren rogue moon situated in[2] the Inner Rim's[1] Bramior system. Eons before the Galactic Civil War, it had been captured by the Bramior star. By the time shortly after the Battle of Yavin, Rove was used in the game of Bombarde, the main attraction of the luxury gambling starship Cal Ambre that also maintained a permanent orbit in the Bramior system. The moon would be overlaid with an electronic grid, after which the Cal Ambre would use its mass driver cannon to shoot an asteroid—drawn from the nearby asteroid field—at randomly generated coordinates on the natural satellite's surface. Meanwhile, aboard the starship, bets were placed on which section of the moon the projectile would impact, and the gamblers gathered to watch the event from a large observation gallery.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
Rove was created by Paul Sudlow and was introduced in Cracken's Rebel Operatives, a 1994 West End Games sourcebook published for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[2] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Bramior system, and therefore Rove, in grid square M-9.[1]
