Rowan Freemaker's lightsaber was a Jedi weapon used by the Sith agent Naare and the Force-sensitive Rowan Freemaker during the search for the Kyber Saber crystals. Rowan stole this lightsaber from Naare during a duel on Naboo. Rowan used the blue lightsaber to hone his training as a Jedi under the tutelage of the former Sith clone Jek-14 and the B1-series battle droid Roger. Rowan later used the blade to fight Naare during a duel at the Freemaker Garage. Later, he would use it to fight M-OC.

History[]

The false Jedi[]

The Sith agent Naare owned both a blue lightsaber and a red Sith lightsaber. While posing as a Jedi, Naare used her blue lightsabers to attack a dianoga and several stormtroopers in an effort to gain the trust of Rowan Freemaker and his family, the Freemakers.[1] During one of Naare's Jedi lessons, Rowan got bored and began toying with her blue lightsabers. Naare managed to regain the boy's attention back by asking him to use the Force to identify the location of a Kyber Saber crystal in the Belgaroth asteroid field.[6]

Naare brought her blue lightsaber during a mission to Cloud City to find one of the Kyber Saber crystals. She used her lightsaber to help Kordi and Zander Freemaker rescue Rowan from Graballa's bounty hunters Dengar, Baash, and Raam.[7] Naare later used her blue lightsaber during a skirmish on the planet Tatooine with Graballa's henchmen. She managed to rescue the Freemakers but Rowan learned of her true Sith identity.[8]

Cover exposed[]

Naare used her Jedi lightsaber to force her way into the Freemaker Garage. Naare quickly realized that Rowan and his family were aware of her true Sith identity. A brief confrontation ensued and the Freemakers escaped into space with her stolen Sith lightsaber. During her initial meeting with Graballa, she wielded her blue lightsaber but sheathed her blade after making an alliance with the Hutt crime lord. In return for repairing her ship, Naare agreed to help Graballa hunt down the Freemakers.[9]

Naare later wielded her blue lightsaber during a duel with Rowan at the Emperor Palpatine Museum on Naboo. Naare quickly gained the upper hand over the young Jedi and retrieved her Sith lightsaber. Wielding both her lightsabers, Naare tried to kill or possibly capture Rowan. However, Rowan used the Force to collapse a hanging N-1 starfighter. This triggered a chain explosion that demolished the Museum. Rowan then stole Naare's blue lightsaber and claimed that it was more to his liking. He left Naare with her Sith lightsaber.[2]

Rowan's lightsaber[]

Later, Rowan used his re-appropriated blue lightsaber to fend off several hostile droids on the junkyard planet of Zoh until the former Sith clone Jek-14 calmed the situation down. Rowan later used the lightsaber in self defense against several mutinous droids led by N-3RO. Rowan deflected a blast at a generator, which exploded. Despite his resistance, he and Jek-14 were overpowered by the droids. Rowan later activated his lightsaber during a brief confrontation with Naare. However, Jek-14 intervened and told Rowan and his family to leave while he held Naare back.[10]

During a mission to the icy planet of Hoth, Rowan later used his lightsaber to guide his and his siblings' path as they navigated their way through an ice cave. The Freemakers soon found the seventh Kyber Saber crystal but were trapped in a cave-in. Rowan used his lightsaber to dig him and his siblings out. Rowan later activated his blue lightsaber when confronted by Naare after a brief skirmish pitting the Freemakers' improvised vehicles against Naare and Graballa's ships. The Freemakers managed to escape into a nearby cave after Naare was run over by the Imperial officers Durpin and Plumestriker, who were fleeing an enraged mother wampa and her child.[11]

While hiding with the B1-series battle droid Roger and the seventh Kyber Saber crystal on an uncharted world, Rowan used his blue lightsaber in a training session against training droids. Rowan also used Roger's memories of the Clone Wars to learn the combat moves of several Jedi including Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Mace Windu. Rowan later wielded his blue lightsaber in combat against Naare during a duel at the Freemaker Garage. Despite his improved lightsaber skills, he was unable to stop Naare from stealing Roger's head, which contained the location of the seventh Kyber Saber crystal.[12]

Rowan Freemaker later used his lightsaber to knock out a probe droid which was attacking Zander during their mission on Coruscant to steal the Kyber Saber from Naare. After stealing the ancient weapon, Zander used Rowan's lightsaber to mislead pursuing TIE fighters into believing that he had the Kyber Saber. Zander led the Imperials on a chase through the skylanes of Coruscant. Meanwhile, Rowan and Kordi escaped with the real Kyber Saber aboard the StarScavenger into hyperspace.[4]

Joining the Rebellion[]

After the Freemakers joined the Rebel Alliance, Rowan Freemaker used his lightsaber to cut a hole through the floor of Lieutenant Colvett Valeria's Y-wing so that he and Roger could sneak out the craft following the assault on Strike Station Aurek.[13] Later, Rowan used his lightsaber to cut out the fuel intermixer from an Imperial Star Destroyer during a mission to rescue Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca.[14]

Rowan Freemaker wielded his lightsaber during a duel against the Imperial hunter droid M-OC on the planet Tibalt. Later, M-OC attributed the failure of his mission to the fact that the Imperial database lacked information about Rowan's lightsaber.[15] Rowan also wielded his lightsaber during a duel against M-OC at the Tower of Alistan Nor. Despite dropping his lightsaber, Rowan managed to collapse a balcony on top of M-OC, damaging the droid and giving him and his companions Roger and Quarrie enough time to return back to the Home One.[16]

Quest to build the Arrowhead[]

After receiving a Force vision, Rowan embarked on a quest to build the Arrowhead, a ship believed to be capable of turning the tide of the Galactic Civil War.[16] During a mission on the acidic world of Taul to obtain a proton suspension housing, Rowan wielded his lightsaber during a duel against M-OC.[17]

Rowan also used his lightsaber against Graballa's bounty hunters during a mission to obtain an energy matrix activator from the Freemakers' former home on the Wheel space station.[18] Rowan later used his lightsaber in combat against M-OC during a mission to obtain kyber crystals on the planet Qalydon.[19]

Rowan later wielded his lightsaber during an unsanctioned mission to Qalydon to rescue the Lurmen Maynar. This turned out to be a trap by M-OC, who bested Rowan in combat. Rowan was ultimately captured by Darth Vader who brought him back to Coruscant.[20]

Rowan later used his lightsaber during a duel with M-OC on the stormy world of Shantipole. Though M-OC held the upper hand, the droid abandoned the duel after learning about a flaw in the second Death Star.[21]

Battle of Jakku[]

During the Battle of Jakku, Rowan used his lightsaber to slice through the legs of an Imperial AT-AT walker. Years later, Roger recounted this story to Rowan's niece Moxie Freemaker.[22]
