The Ruugia system was a star system that was located within the Altier sector, a part of the galactic regions known as the Expansion Region[1] and the Slice.[2] It was the origin point of the Ruugian noodles.[3][4]
Behind the scenes[]
The Ruugia system was first mentioned in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, written by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace, which placed the system in grid square O-13.[5]

- ↑ 2.0 2.1 The Essential Atlas places the Ruugia system in grid square O-13. It also depicts territory falling in that grid square as being located in either the Slice region of the galaxy (spinward from the Corellian Run super-hyperroute) or the Trailing Sectors region (trailing from the Corellian Run). Since
Star Wars: The Essential Atlas Online Companion on StarWars.com (article) (backup link) places the system within the Altier sector, which is located spinward from the Corellian Run, according to
Essential Atlas Extra: Expansion Region on StarWars.com (backup link), it therefore must also be part of the Slice.

(backup link) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas, stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for the Ruugian noodles in relation to the Ruugia system.
