- "There's spice, of course, but stick with andris, carsunum, or sansanna and never mess around with ryll or the prime Kessel strains."
- ―Platt Okeefe
Ryll was a precious ore harvested from the mines of Ryloth,[1] and could also be found in the Krost Mountains on Aaloth.[2] It had military and scientific applications, but could also be used as a drug in the form of refined spice,[1] which was less effective than glitterstim. Lourna Dee suggested mining the ryll in the Krost Mountains, but was rejected.[2] The smuggler Platt Okeefe warned against trafficking variants such as ryll or the strains of spice mined on Kessel, and suggested that smugglers stick to variants like carsunum, andris and sansanna spice as a profitable cargo in the pirate Maz Kanata's Smuggler's Guide.[3] It was illegally distributed as a drug in the shantytown Traitor's Remorse, though the residents did not use it openly where the New Republic watched.[4]
