SK-Z38 was a Bird Droid found at the Star Tours travel agency.[2] Two of them were befriended by Star Tours droid G2-4T a few months after the Battle of Endor. They usually were located on the droid lifts and other high places, so they could make their nests. They were also capable of laying eggs, something 4T was unaware of, although their chances of the eggs hatching were smaller than RX-24 making his first flight without problems.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
SK-Z38 was originally one of the animatronic birds found in Disney's Splash Mountain attraction. Its skin was removed, and the droid was retooled for use in Star Tours.[3]
The droid appeared in both the Disney's Hollywood Studios and Tokyo Disneyland versions of the ride, the latter supplying its full information on the Spot the Droid poster[4] and the Complete Guide to Star Tours.[1] In 2003, Hasbro released SK-Z38 as an exclusive Star Tours action figure.[5]
