The Saak'ak was a modified Lucrehulk-class LH-3210 cargo freighter that was part of the private fleet of the Trade Federation and served as the Federation's flagship during the Invasion of Naboo.[4] Commanded by Captain Daultay Dofine, the freighter was visited by Galactic Republic ambassadors, Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, who were sent to negotiate with the Federation Viceroy, Nute Gunray, about ceasing their blockade to resume trade with the planet Naboo.[2]

However, the negotiations were prevented by Gunray, which forced the Jedi down to the surface as the Federation launched their invasion to capture the capital of Theed. Sometime after their successful capture of Theed, the Saak'ak and most of the blockade left the system, with command of the blockade being transferred to the Lucrehulk-class Battleship[5] Vuutun Palaa.[2]

During the blockade of Naboo, the Saak'ak was visited by two Jedi Knights named Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, ambassadors representing the Galactic Republic's Supreme Chancellor Valorum. Darth Sidious ordered the Jedi's death, and Viceroy Nute Gunray looked to carry this order out using poison gas and a number of battle droids. The Jedi escaped the ambush and fled the ship after being cornered by two destroyer droids.[2]
