Saber-fangs were a species of animal whose physiology included blood. Fully grown saber-fangs would sometimes fight one another, with the result usually being that both participants left the conflict bloodied and a victor being difficult to identify. The Sakiyan Tarnese Bleyd, who served as an Admiral in the Navy of the Galactic Republic believed a fight between himself and the Human combat instructor Phow Ji would be similar to a saber-fang fight, as he was not sure he could defeat Ji as an opponent.[1]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
Saber-fangs were first mentioned in the novel MedStar I: Battle Surgeons, which was released in 2004 and written by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry. The book does not make clear if they are sentient or not.
