Behind the scenes[]

Sanandrassa first appeared in 2020 novel Queen's Peril, written by E. K. Johnston. Queen's Peril establishes that Sanandrassa had served as Padmé Amidala's predecessor as Monarch of Naboo.[2] However, the Star Wars Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded had previously named King Ars Veruna as Amidala's predecessor.[3]

Notes and references[]

  1. ToppsDigitalLogo Star Wars: Card Trader (Card: Padmé Naberrie - Handmaiden - Base Series 1) This card on Star Wars: Card Trader states that Padmé was born fourteen years before the Battle of Naboo. Since Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates the Battle of Naboo to 32 BBY, Padmé's birth can be calculated as 46 BBY. The novel Queen's Peril describes Amidala as the youngest queen of Naboo for some time after her election at the age of fourteen. Therefore, Sanandrassa, who was the immediate predecessor to Amidala, must have been born at least fifteen years before she was elected queen. SWInsider "A Certain Point of View" — Star Wars Insider 200 states that Sanandrassa served a two year reign as Monarch of Naboo which ended thirty-two years before the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. As Star Wars: Galactic Atlas states that A New Hope begins in 0 BBY, Sanandrassa's reign must have lasted from 34 BBY to 32 BBY. Therefore, Sanandrassa must have been born by 49 BBY.
