The sanctuary tree was a variety of tree that grew on Endor, a forested moon that orbited the planet of the same name. Because its dark branches wove together in a kind of organic knotwork, some also called it the a serpent's puzzle. Its fruit was a small, knobby nut called acorn. Following the Battle of Endor, the Ewok Wicket W. Warrick gave a sanctuary tree acorn to Leia Organa. She grew the plant in a pot of Chandrilan soil, and used it as the focus of her meditations, as suggested by her brother Luke Skywalker.[1]
