"Oh…is this on? Help! Emergency! This is Sand Crawler 345 broadcasting on Emergency Frequency. We are under attack from Tusken Raiders. . .setting emergency beacon…Help! Emergency!"
FA-2PO, to a spacer[1]

Sand Crawler 345 was a Jawa sandcrawler during the Galactic Civil War. It was destroyed by Tusken Raiders.[1]

History[]

"My information has the Jawas, Valarians and Darklighters each have gotten a part of the shipment. I first want to track down the Jawa Sand Crawler and see what they have. They are on a trade route and I expect you can pick up their trail at Tosche Station."
Commander Barrezz, to a spacer[3]

In 1 ABY,[2] the Jawas of Sand Crawler 345 acquired a cargo that arrived on Tatooine from Tansarii Point Station. The sandcrawler visited Tosche Station, near Anchorhead, to have business with the warehouse manager Janus.[3] It then visited Zef Ando at the Lars homestead.[4] After leaving the farm, Sand Crawler 345 was attacked by Tusken Raiders in the Western Dune Sea and destroyed. Some Jawas and the protocol droid FA-2PO managed to escape and took refuge nearby.[1] As the cargo from Tansarii Point Station interested both Imperial Commander Barrezz and Rebel Captain Bastra,[3] spacers were looking for the sandcrawler when it was attacked. The spacers received FA-2PO's emergency call and headed to the survivors of Sand Crawler 345. The spacers attacked the Tusken Raiders and rescued the Jawas. The spacers later recovered Jawa encryption keys from the Tusken Raiders and finally accessed to the sandcrawler database.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The Sand Crawler 345 appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[5] The Sand Crawler 345 was added to the game as part of the "Legacy Quest" with the release of the "Publish 25," a.k.a. the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.[6]

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 1.5 1.6 1.7 1.8 Star Wars Galaxies (post-NGE) — Legacy Quest: "Jawa Tracks" on Tatooine
  2. 2.0 2.1 The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
