Satine's Lament,[1] also known as Leia's blaster,[7] was a model of the Defender sporting blaster pistol produced by Drearian Defense Conglomerate. The blaster pistol model was named after the planet Mandalore's former Duchess, Satine Kryze,[1] a devout pacifist who hated violence.[8] Its alternative name came from its usage by General Leia Organa,[7] a famous revolutionary[9] who fought for both the Alliance to Restore the Republic[3] and Resistance.[6]
History[]
Leia armed with her blaster
Princess Leia Organa, a prominent member of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, used a Satine's Lament as her preferred weapon of choice during the Galactic Civil War. When her ship the Tantive IV was boarded over the planet Tatooine[3] in 0 BBY,[10] Organa defended herself from Imperial stormtroopers with a Satine's Lament, killing squad leader TK-9091 with a well-placed shot before being stunned.[3] She later used another Satine's Lament[5] in 4 ABY[11] during the Battle of Theed.[5] She continued to utilize one during the First Order-Resistance War, using it to stun the Resistance pilot Poe Dameron during a mutiny aboard the Raddus.[6] By that time, her usage of the weapon had earned it the alternative name of "Leia's blaster."[7]
