The scatter gun was a powerful slugthrower weapon that was used by the Galactic Republic, Confederacy of Independent Systems, Alliance to Restore the Republic, Galactic Empire, and the New Republic. It was lethal when fired from close range, and it could penetrate through deflector shields.[1][2] The Trandoshan Hunter Charr used a scatter gun known as the Cunning Scatter Gun as his primary weapon during the Hunters of the Outer Rim competition within the Grand Arena on the planet Vespaara.[5]
Behind the scenes[]
The scatter gun was introduced in Star Wars: Battlefront's first major expansion pack, The Outer Rim DLC. It is bought through the use of Hutt Contracts, and will only unlock after the player has achieved 40 kills using the CA-87 shock blaster and by using 20 Focus Fire charges.[2]
In 2025, during the Star Wars season Galactic Battle in the video game Fortnite Battle Royale, the weapon was added under the name "ACP Scatter Blaster."[6] Unlike its canon counterpart,[1] the weapon was changed into a blaster weapon.[6] According to Senior Star Wars Lore Advisor Leland Chee,[7] the change was made to accommodate gameplay and the complete removal of ammos for the season.[8]

Leland Chee (@.holocronkeeper) in Wookieepedia's Discord server (May 6, 2025): "In the Holocron, I'm treating it as a gameplay purposes thing. If they fired physical projectiles, then ammo would be limited. But for the Fortnite event, all the weapons have to have unlimited ammo, and thus would need to be energy-based." (message link) (screenshot) (In response to: "Hey, @HolocronKeeper. With the new Star Wars season in Fortnite, we were introduced to the ACP Scatter Blaster. Naming wise, it's very similar to the Accelerated Charged Particle (ACP) Array Gun and them both being scatterblasters too. However, the design matches the scatter gun, which is a slugthrower from what we know. I was wondering if you might have any insights regarding the intention with that weapon in particular.")
