After Moff Gideon of the Galactic Empire took possession of the Darksaber from Lady Bo-Katan Kryze during the Great Purge of Mandalore, Kryze launched a search for the mythical weapon to reclaim her lost station as the ruler of the planet Mandalore. Her suspicious that Gideon still held the weapon were confirmed during an assault on a Gozanti-class Assault Carrier in 9 ABY. During the second rescue of Grogu, however, Child of the Watch Din Djarin would duel and best Gideon, unknowingly claiming the Darksaber for himself. With the Darksaber out of her grasp, the Mandalorian warriors and fleet she had assembled abandoned her to become mercenaries.
