The Second Mission to Byss was carried out by Jedi Master Kyle Katarn and Jedi Knight Jaden Korr for the New Jedi Order.
Background
Due to the fact that Rosh Penin never completed his investigation of Byss prior to his seduction to the dark side, Korr was sent to determine if Tavion Axmis had already used the Scepter of Ragnos to absorb the planet's Force energy. Katarn also decided to come, so that Korr himself would not be at risk of being captured.
The mission
After arriving at Byss, Korr and Katarn could not detect any dark side presence, confirming that Tavion Axmis had already claimed the energy she needed. Before they could leave the system however, the Raven's Claw was caught in the tractor beam of an Imperial Dreadnaught. Katarn and Korr split up once their ship was brought onboard. Katarn went to trigger the ship's self-destruct mechanism while Korr went to deactivate the tractor beam.
Eventually, Korr was able to disable the tractor beam, battling stormtroopers and hazard stormtroopers along the way. However, the Imperials had already sent out a distress signal and before long, TIE/LN starfighters and TIE/sa bombers were attacking the Dreadnaught. Korr took control of the Dreadnaught's turbolaser cannons and destroyed the TIEs. After he rejoined Katarn in the hangar and escaped in the Raven's Claw, the Dreadnaught was destroyed, the explosion destroying a number of surviving TIEs that were pursuing the Raven's Claw.
Behind the scenes
When the player gets back to the hangar bay at the end of the mission, Kyle Katarn is seen using his famous Bryar pistol that appears in Dark Forces I, II, Mysteries of the Sith, and Jedi Outcast.
