Selligore were large creatures native to the planet Corsin. Despite their intimidating size (4 meters tall and 20 meters long), they were quite harmless, feeding on aquatic plankton and small fish.[1]
Biology and appearance[]
Selligore were large aquatic creatures that lived on a diet of small fish, plankton and plants. While they could survive on land for a short period, the lack of water pressure and hydration could kill them. Offspring were born in air-filled sacs that slowly let in water to allow the young creatures time to assimilate to living in the water. While the young could swim, adults would navigate the oceans by being buoyant and floating.[1]
Behavior[]
The creatures primarily lived in the shallow waters of Corsin. They generally stayed in the same territory but would rarely move to a new area, usually due to encroachment on their feeding grounds. The herds were composed of five to ten individuals, with the males outnumbering the females by two to one.[1]
History[]
Selligores were initially protected by the Corsin government, but when the Empire took over they stopped enforcing the statues which led to a drop in the population. The animals generally kept to themselves, but a group on natives on the Tinn'lyi Islands developed a relationship with the Selligores. They would leave plants on the shores for the creatures to eat, and in return the Selligores would allow the natives to fit large nets to their bodies that the creatures would drag through the water and catch fish.[1]
