Selonians were a sentient[1] bipedal[2] humanoid species from the world of Selonia.[1] Distinctly cat-like, Selonians had a short muzzle tipped with a flat rhinarium nose, and bodies covered in fur that could be a range of colors from chestnut brown, to beige, to white, and was not uncommon to be striped. Following behind their tall and lanky 2 meter high bodies was a thick and sleek tail.[2] They had particularly light-sensitive eyes, which meant that they were especially vulnerable to the weapons known as flashsticks, which emitted a bright flash of light to stun their target when used.[1] Selonians were able to smell strong emotions by picking up on pheromones released by beings around them. Even with lack of vocal or body expressions, they could detect emotions like anger or shame.[2]

The type of weapon known as the shard shooter was a unique Selonian slugthrower that used electromagnetic propulsion to fire razor-sharp crystalline ammunition. It was popular with local defense forces on Selonia, but those taking it offworld were often questioned and hassled about the nature of the weapon.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

In the new Star Wars canon Selonians were first mentioned in the 2019 Fantasy Flight Games roleplaying supplement Gadgets and Gear.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Selonians first appeared in the 1979 comic strip "Gambler's World", which was written and illustrated by Russ Manning,[3] although the species would not receive a name until the 1995 novel Ambush at Corellia by Roger MacBride Allen.[4]
