- "Senali is an orbiting satellite of Rutan. Now it is a separate world with its own government, but it was a colony of Rutan for many years. The two worlds fought a long and difficult war that took its toll on both populations. The war was won by the satellite Senali in a surprising upset."
- ―Obi-Wan Kenobi
Senali was the moon of Rutan. It had four moons of its own. The native Senalis were an offshoot of the Rutanians, and the two peoples had a long history of rivalry and conflict.
Description[]
Senali was covered in oceans except for small islands the Senalis lived on. The Senalis subsisted mainly on fish and fruit from the various scattered islands across the moon. The Senalis' culture was to wear necklaces and bracelets made of seashells and stones.
History[]
- "Since the war was devastating to both worlds, a unique peace agreement was decided upon. The firstborn children of the rulers of both Rutan and Senali are exchanged when each child reaches seven years of age. The child is brought up on the neighboring planet, but is allowed to receive visitors and go for short visits to his or her home planet, as well as be in contact with the royal family. This is so that he or she does not forget his or her birth family or duty."
- ―Obi-Wan Kenobi
Senali ultimately won the war between Rutan and Senali, but the conflict was so devastating that a peace agreement was made: the firstborn children of the rulers of both worlds would be exchanged at age seven. When the exchangees turned 16, they would return home.
This pact was nearly broken and both worlds nearly went to war when the Rutanian prince, Leed, felt that Senali was his home and wanted to stay, prompting his father, King Frane, to demand he return home. The Republic sent two Jedi, Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, to assess the situation.
As the Yuuzhan Vong made their way through the galaxy, Rutan and Senali were politically divided by the Peace Brigade. Several months after this, the Senali were wiped out by the Yuuzhan Vong.[4]
