A small sensor array was built outside the city Kwilaan on the planet Naboo. The entrance to the array consisted of a flight of stairs with three statues of Humans on each side. It was used by by the Human Naboo and was operated by two technicians while being lightly guarded by four Palace Guards.
In 32 BBY, the sensor array was targeted by the Trade Federation in preparation for their invasion of Naboo. They planned to sever Naboo's communications by placing jamming satellites around the planet and needed the array deactivated for several hours to place them undetected. Trade Federation operative Raymas Daal hired a group of students from the Royal House of Learning—Sia-Lan Wezz, Rorworr, Arani Korden, and Deel Surool—to deactivate the sensor array. The group knocked out the palace guards and dealt with the technicians in order to deactivate the array, allowing the Trade Federation to place their satellites.
Behind the scenes
The sensor array was mentioned in the Star Wars: Invasion of Theed Adventure Game scenario "Signal Interruption," written by Jesse Decker and published on the Wizards of the Coast website on August 9, 2001. The players control hero characters from the Invasion of Theed Adventure Game and strategize how to deal with the Palace Guards at the array, either by sneaking in or openly attacking. They also choose how to deal with the technicians, with Decker writing that the technicians will not attack unless struck first, and even in that case they are likely to attempt an escape first. This article assumes that the events of "Signal Interruption" occurred as described in the text.
