"Separation Anxiety Part One" is a comic story that was published as the lead story of Star Wars Adventures 9. It was written by Michael Moreci, illustrated by Michael Avon-Oeming and Chris O'Halloran, and published by IDW Publishing on September 8, 2021.

Plot summary[]

Mace Windu converses with Anakin Skywalker about a communications blackout on the planet Ridlay. Windu lands on the planet with Ponds and other clone troopers. They encounter a local named Agon, who warns that ghosts have driven the villagers into hiding. Floating creatures appear, which the clones attempt to shoot, but the blaster bolts pass through them. Agon takes Windu to meet with a local leader, who explains that the alleged ghosts appear every fifty years during a total eclipse, but that this year they have been mysteriously aggressive, driving people from their homes. At the leader's bidding, Agon leads Windu to a pit called the Ascension Well, from which the ghosts emerged. Through the Force, Windu senses that the creatures are in fact alive, but that their minds are conflicted. More of the creatures appear, followed by Count Dooku atop a Separatist tank.

  2. "Separation Anxiety Part One" takes place after the Clone Wars begins in Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, but before Ponds' death in "Lethal Trackdown". Star Wars: Galactic Atlas places Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones in 22 BBY, while Helmet Collection logo small.png Star Wars Helmet Collection 76 (Highlights of the Saga: The End of Endurance) dates the events of "Lethal Trackdown" to 21 BBY. Therefore, "Separation Anxiety Part One" must take place between 22 BBY and 21 BBY.
