The Sessal Spire was an active volcano on Keshtah Minor, a continent on the planet Kesh. During the Great Calamity following the Hundred-Year Darkness, the Dark Jedi Baron Remulus Dreypa hid several Leviathan larvae within the crater of the volcano. Around the time of the Lost Tribe's discovery of Kesh in 5000 BBY, the Keshiri geologist Adari Vaal collected rocks called flamestones from the Spire. During the Time of the Rot, Sessal Spire was said to have erupted violently several times. The volcanic eruption also caused damaged to the Korsinata stadium which was located in Tahv, in the interior of the continent Keshtah Minor. Several Sith interpreted it as a sign that they had to leave Kesh.
In 2974 BBY, Dreypa and his rebels retreated to Sessal Spire after sustaining heavy losses at the hands of the Tribe's forces during the Battle of the Marisota Floodplain. There, Dreypa awoke his hibernating Leviathan monsters and unleashed them on both his former allies and pursuers. The Leviathans also devoured an entire army consisting of members of the Doomed—the descendants of former Jedi and Dark Jedi who had landed on Kesh following the Hundred-Year Darkness and had since made peace with each other, intending to find a balance in the Force. Following the Siege of Tahv, the Sith Parlan Spinner flew an ancient Jedi starship, the Last Hope, to Sessal Spire. There, he pretended to surrender the starship to Dreypa, who was intent on returning to the wider galaxy. However, Spinner had set the starship on an autopilot course towards Sessal Spire. The Last Hope crashed into Sessal Spire's crater and was engulfed, killing Baron Dreypa in the process.
