Shiraya was an ancient moon goddess that was worshipped by the Naboo, the Human inhabitants of the planet of the same name. She was traditionally depicted as a winged, female humanoid brandishing a crescent moon-shaped symbol.[1] Padmé Amidala, an prominent political figure on Naboo during the last decades of the Galactic Republic,[2] was a worshipper of Shiraya.[1][3] In Varykino, her family's retreat house, Amidala owned[1] at least two[4] statues of the goddess. When she was Queen of Naboo, Amidala sometimes wore Shiraya fan headdresses in her honor.[3] During her tenure as senator of the Chommell sector, the former queen moved her statues of Shiraya in the open-air private veranda of her apartment on Coruscant.[1]
