"This doesn't make any sense!"
―Sig Greebling[2]

Sig Greebling was a Force-sensitive human nerf herder[4] and Bobarian Afol's Padawan.[6] He lived on the planet Fennesa with his older brother Dev, telling tales of the Jedi's heroics.[5] After Greebling uncovered The Cornerstone of the Galaxy, a powerful artifact, from a hidden Jedi temple, the galaxy became mixed up and he was thrust into adventure.[4]

Biography[]

Early life[]

Sig Greebling was just an ordinary person, living with his brother, Dev Greebling, as a nerf herder on the planet of Fennesa, however, he eventually discovered that he was Force-sensitive, though he hid it from his brother, as he just wanted to live an ordinary life, Sig was fascinated by the history of his galaxy, telling everyone on his planet about Order 66, the fall of the Galactic Empire, and the return of Darth Sidious.[1]

Finding the Cornerstone[]

One day, Sig recounted the same story when Dev arrived, saying they needed to round up some nerfs. Sig responded that he would talk about Grand Admiral Thrawn and Boba Fett next. Before leaving, Dev mentioned he hoped to get enough credits to leave Fennesa. Sig said he wanted to stay, and Dev told him he should come up with his own stories. As they began rounding up nerfs, Sig spotted a nerf called Lug straying from the group, Sig tried to get them to get into a group with a big stick, but failed, Dev asked why he is using that thing, and he says it is tradition, also claiming they would be lucky to have it in case of an Ion storm, Dev decided to use his speeder to round them up, before his speeder collided with a black structure, and he catapulted into the air. Sig used the Force to save him, Dev claimed that was awesome. Sig was upset that his brother was reckless, Dev asked why he hid it, and Sig initially denied using the Force, but later admitted he had been hiding it for years. Sig reminded him that he couldn't lift objects or do mind tricks, but he could use the Force to build things, Dev then responded if he was Force-sensitive, he would display his powers, when Sig claimed that he is shy, and if people knew, they would expect extraordinary things from him if they knew. Dev interrupted, claiming he wasn’t ordinary, but Sig wished his brother were Force-sensitive. Dev agreed but insisted he didn’t hide his own powers.[1]

The two brothers made their way back to town. Sig tried to convince Dev to reconsider leaving, when they found Farmer Scala with his daughter, Yesi Scala, speaking with two Resistance pilots—one human, and one Sullustan. The pilots were explaining how they had caught Yesi in the Sullustan's X-wing starfighter. Yesi claimed she had left it the way she found it, but before they could discuss it further, the starfighter exploded into pieces, along with the astromech droid. Farmer Scala managed to convince the pilots to discipline his daughter, then told Yesi she would inherit the farm when she was older. Yesi, however, said she didn’t want to. Dev and Sig approached Yesi. Dev explained that he, too, wanted to leave Fennesa, while Sig tried to make Yesi appreciate her home world, claiming Hoth was worse. Yesi responded that she would rather fight a hundred Wampas than stay there, insisting that she wanted to choose her own path. Sig said he could sympathize with her. Dev, feeling awkward around Yesi and attracted to her, interrupted the conversation, inviting her to watch a holo of Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes and opened his holoprojector. At home, Sig found his GNK-series power droid, Servo, banging around the living room. He told Servo to stop hitting the cupboard where his toy models were stacked. After securing Servo, Sig comforted the droid, saying they could take solace in both being outsiders. Through the window, Sig watched a crowd gather as Dev and Yesi danced on top of a roof.[1]

Later, Sig was walking with Dev as they led the nerf Lug, who was drawing a cart. Dev told Sig that he and Yesi were saving credits to leave Fennesa and invited Sig to come along. Sig, fearful of change, didn’t want to leave their pastoral homeworld, saying he preferred the predictability and safety it offered. As an Ion storm formed ahead, Lug panicked and bolted, breaking free from the cart. Lug tumbled off the edge of a cliff, but Sig managed to pull him to safety. In the process, Sig lost his footing and fell off the cliff, clinging to a vine. Dev quickly pulled him to safety, but in the chaos, a panicked Servo knocked them both over the edge.[1]

The two brothers, alongside Servo tumbled down the cliff, Dev led them to an abandoned Jedi temple emblazoned with a Jedi symbol on its door. Dev eagerly begged to explore, hoping to find a kyber crystal. Sig expressed his reluctance, but Dev insisted destiny had called them to the temple. He convinced Sig to open the door, as Sig was unable to do so himself. Inside, they walked through a hallway and noticed an inscription. Dev, however, found a glowing cornerstone at the wall. Sig tried to warn him not to tamper with the objects inside, but Dev accused him of being afraid. Sig lost his temper, grabbed the object with the Force.[1]

They are interrupted by a cloaked figure, telling them to get away, when he realized that the cornerstone was removed, Dev fled the temple, but Sig and Servo get left behind as it collapses.[1]

An altered galaxy[]

Sig found himself in a strange version of Fennesa, now covered in a sandy atmosphere. When he saw a clone trooper, he thought it was a prank, but when the clone walked up to him, he took off his helmet, revealing a Mon Calamari in a clone armor. One of the clones asked why they were on Fennesa, claiming that the planet belonged to the Empire. Sig claimed that the Empire had been defeated and addressed them as Admiral Ackbar. As the clones began to surround him, threatening to take him to a Sith Lord, Yesi jumped in with a gaffi stick, taking them all out.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Sig Greebling appears in LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, a non-canon LEGO Star Wars special released on September 13, 2024, in which he will be voiced by Gaten Matarazzo.[4] Greebling's first name is short for "signature figure," a LEGO figurine built to represent its creator. His surname is derived from the term "greebling," used in the LEGO community to describe the addition of small parts as detail for surfaces and originally coined by Industrial Light & Magic in the 1970s regarding models for Star Wars.[7]
