Signal droids or landing guidance droids were droids used to direct starships during takeoff and landing at starports.[2] The Star Tours travel agency used this type of droid.[3] LG3-18 was a landing guidance droid stationed on the moon Nar Shaddaa, who guided ships to public landing platforms.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The signal droid appears in one of two possible opening scenes of the Star Tours: The Adventures Continue attraction, in the scene featuring Darth Vader.[3] It is colored primarily red in the ride, though the second version of the action figure based on the droid features blue instead.[4] This droid appears to be based on the INS-444 window installation droid.
