"Silooth…tuk'ata…veergundark…krastenane…"
―Dooku, reading from The Bestiary of Darth Caldoth — 20?cb=20250116042720 ▶️ (file info)[1]

The silooth was a type of Sith warbeast that was listed with similar creatures in The Bestiary of Darth Caldoth, a tome that the Sith Lord Darth Caldoth had compiled[1] by 1032 BBY.[2] By 88 BBY,[3] the Jedi Order acquired the book and stored it in the Archive of Forbidden Artifacts in the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant.[1] That year,[3] the Jedi Initiates Dooku and Sifo-Dyas found the book, and Dooku read the silooth's name aloud from it alongside several other Sith warbeasts, assuming they must be hideous from what he saw.[1]

Sifo-Dyas recognized the names as belonging to Sith warbeasts and informed Dooku, who was shocked to learn the Jedi held a text on the subject. Dooku later recounted the incident to his sister Jenza via holo-letter.[1] Around 23 BBY,[4] Dooku gave data disks of his conversations with Jenza to his recently recruited Sith assassinAsajj Ventress—for her investigation into Jenza's location, and she listened to the message mentioning silooth.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

A horned beetle-like creature with a tan shell, large pincers around its toothy mouth, and pointed claws.

The silooth originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity.

In the current Star Wars canon, the silooth was mentioned in the audio drama Dooku: Jedi Lost, written by Cavan Scott[1] and published on April 30, 2019.[5] The spelling of silooth in canon was confirmed by the audio drama's script release[6] on October 1 of the same year.[5]

The creatures originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where they were first mentioned in The Dark Side Sourcebook, a supplement to the Star Wars Roleplaying Game written by Bill Slavicsek and J.D. Wiker, and published by Wizards of the Coast in 2001.[7] They were then pictured for the first time in an illustration by Adam Gillespie used in the Jedi Academy Training Manual, a 2009 supplement for the roleplaying game also published by Wizards of the Coast.[8]
