Simon Greyshade[1] was a wealthy senator who represented the Vorzyd sector[2] in the Senate of the Galactic Republic shortly before the onslaught of the Clone Wars,[1] in 22 BBY.[3] He owned the XJ-6 airspeeder, a custom luxury airspeeder hot rod constructed from a Narglatch AirTech kit that Greyshade further customized with twin turbojet engines originally designed to function in groups of fifty aboard the gigantic bank-courier repulsor trucks of Aargau. This airspeeder was commandeered by the Jedi Padawan Anakin Skywalker to pursue Zam Wesell, a Clawdite bounty hunter who had attempted and failed to assassinate Senator Padmé Amidala of Naboo.[2] Greyshade was unable to press charges for his speeder's "theft," as it was later retrieved and returned to its parkslot.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Simon Greyshade first appeared in Star Wars (1977) 18, a 1978 Star Wars Legends comic book published by Marvel Comics.[4] He was established as the owner of the airspeeder that Anakin Skywalker commandeered in Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones in the Star Wars Legends reference book Star Wars: Attack of the Clones Incredible Cross-Sections, and this ownership was carried over into the new canon, first with an indirect mention in Ultimate Star Wars, and then a mention by name in the 2016 revision of Star Wars: Complete Locations.
