Sintheti was a terrestrial astronomical object[3] located in the Sintheti system, a part of the Noonian sector[1] in the New Territories portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1] Its surface featured crags.[3]

In 402 BBY, rival claimants to Sintheti's Horned Throne hired the Mandalorian and Sun Guard mercenary groups, respectively.[3] In the resulting Battle of Sintheti,[4] the two groups, which were fierce rivals themselves, fought each other for more than three years amid the celestial body's crags and within its catacombs.[3]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Sintheti was introduced via mention of the Battle of Sintheti in the 2009 sourcebook Galaxy at War, which was published by Wizards of the Coast for use with the Star Wars Roleplaying Game.[4] It was originally meant to be identified as a distinct celestial body in the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart; however, the section that would have mentioned Sintheti was cut before the book's release.[3]

The information regarding Sintheti was later released in 2013 as part of Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare Author's Cut, a series of articles published on the StarWars.com Blog by Fry and Erich Schoeneweiss containing various cut content from The Essential Guide to Warfare.[3] The StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Sintheti system, and therefore Sintheti itself, in grid square N-6.[1]
