"Actually, scratch that, Maru. The targes scanner has picked up vibrations from hyperspace. Think I'm about to have company."
―Orla Jareni[3]

During the High Republic Era, elements of the Jedi Order on Starlight Beacon went against the words of Jedi Master Stellan Gios to arrange an infiltration of the Nihil by Jedi Knights Keeve Trennis and Terec. The mission was organized by Jedi Master Avar Kriss, who felt that Gios did not understand the significant threat the Nihil posed. To accomplish this mission, they staged a fake conflict in the Soola system between the Jedi Wayseeker Orla Jareni aboard her ship the Lightseeker, and Knights Trennis and Terec onboard a captured Stormship, the Ransacker, pretending to be members of the Nihil.[3]

The pair of infiltrating Jedi attacked Jareni's ship after she had scanned and cleared the Soola System of any Nihil forces. Their assault was considerable, damaging the Wayseeker's vessel, but they allowed her to send out a distress call which brought the Jedi starship Ataraxia to bear as part of the scheme to draw attention to themselves. The Ransacker then issued its own distress call to the Nihil, claiming to be under attack and needing assistance as Jedi Vector starfighters entered the fray. The two sides continued to fight, with other Nihil ships soon jumping in to help their supposed comrades, and the heavily damaged Ransacker apparently managing to destroy one of the attacking Vectors.[3]

In reality, the destroyed Vector had been under remote control by Jedi Knight Ceret back on the Ataraxia and had been used to give credibility to the infiltration team. Shortly after the Vector's destruction, a Nihil vessel used magclamps to secure the Ransacker, and the raiders all escaped to hyperspace with Jedi Knights Keeve Trennis and Terec within their ranks. The Jedi then regrouped and recalled their Vectors to the Ataraxia, with Jedi Masters Avar Kriss and Sskerr planning to discuss if the Nihil bought the ruse.[3]
