Around 9 ABY,[4] during the New Republic Era, a skirmish took place on the planet Tython between a remnant of the Galactic Empire led by Moff Gideon, and the Mandalorian Din Djarin and his allies, Boba Fett and Fennec Shand.[3]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The skirmish appeared in "Chapter 14: The Tragedy" of Jon Favreau's 2019 Disney+ television series The Mandalorian, written by Favreau and directed by Robert Rodriguez[3] and released on December 4, 2020.[5]
To visualize the skirmish between Din Djarin, Fennec Shand and Boba Fett against Gideon's Imperial remnant, Rodriguez had his young sons dress with some Halloween costumes and used some Star Wars action figures to record a walkthrough of the planned sequence. He ended up turning a three-page battle scene into a nine-minute sequence, given that he had wanted to see Fett back since he was a kid but felt that it was necessary to have him feel and move different so he would not look like the Mandalorian, as he was unaware if Fett would be returning in further episodes at the time.[6]
