A slave tracking device was an implant chip and homing beacon in an enslaved person's body to prevent them from escaping. Traveling beyond the range of the tracking transmitter, held by the enslaver, would trigger a small explosion that killed the enslaved person. The device could be shut down with a deactivator wand. The Humans Anakin Skywalker and Shmi Skywalker were implanted with transmitter chips, and Anakin tried to develop a method of locating his chip prior to being freed. Around 44 ABY, Kitaya Shuul had one implanted just below her shoulder blade.
