"The choices of one shape the futures of all."
―Warlord Nuso Esva describes Sorro's story with an excerpt of the Song of Salaban[2]

A Human male assuming the name "Sorro" resided in a town on the planet Wroona with his family. By 0 ABY, Storm-hair Warlord Nuso Esva's agents captured Sorro's family and made Sorro the pilot of Esva's Kazellis-class light freighter Salaban's Hope, aboard which he served the warlord in the hopes of "redeeming" his family by doing so. The sadness that his family's capture provoked prompted the Human to take the name of Sorro.

In 0 ABY, the Salaban's Hope was attacked by several starships of Esva's realm but was saved by the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Chimaera of the Galactic Empire. Under the pseudonym of Imperial court member Lord Odo, Esva hid his true identity. Sorro later helped the warlord sabotage the Imperial Star Destroyer shortly after meeting Commander Gilad Pellaeon in the Chimaera's mess room, and he was killed with a hypospray by the commander when the pilot donned Esva's clothing.

The Chimaera, aboard which Sorro met Commander Gilad Pellaeon

A Human male resided in a town on the[2] Inner Rim[3] planet Wroona with his family until,[2] by 0 ABY,[1] the agents of[2] Storm-hair[4] warlord Nuso Esva kidnapped them and forced the Human to serve as Esva's pilot aboard his Kazellis-class light freighter Salaban's Hope to redeem his family. The capture of his family deeply saddened him, and he took the name of "Sorro" to express his sorrow.[2]

In 0 ABY,[1] the Salaban's Hope rendezvoused with the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Chimaera of the Galactic Empire. Upon arriving to the Star Destroyer's position, the light freighter was attacked by six of Esva's starships, which the Chimaera attempted to destroy. While the Imperial warship defeated the attackers, Sorro landed the Salaban's Hope in the Star Destroyer's hangar. Before leaving the Salaban's Hope, Esva donned clothing and a metallic mask to conceal his identity and boarded the Chimaera under the pseudonym of Imperial court member Lord Odo. After introducing himself to Imperial Commander Gilad Pellaeon, Sorro visited the Chimaera's mess rooms three times to eat his food or bring Esva's food to their shared quarters.[2]

Serving as Esva's tool[]

"Is Sorro dead yet, Commander Pellaeon?"
"Yes."
"Pity. He rather liked you, you know. I think he might have told you all about me, had he cared less for his family."
―Warlord Nuso Esva and Commander Gilad Pellaeon[2]

Sorro was fond of Commander Gilad Pellaeon (pictured).

Shortly after, Pellaeon saw the pilot having a meal and joined him, but Sorro told him to go away. After expressing that nothing in his life was permanent, Esva's servant asked the commander if he had lost everything and learned that Pellaeon had lost many comrades, while the Imperial advised him to recognize his flaws and fix them. Sorro believed that to be impossible and continued eating after Esva requested Pellaeon's assistance in moving to his and his pilot's new quarters closer to the Chimaera's bridge. The warlord then told the commander that Sorro had made the wrong choices and lost his family in the process; he explained that that was the reason for the pilot's deep sadness that Pellaeon had noted, citing an excerpt of the Song of Salaban, an Arkanian legend.[2]

While the Chimaera visited the Unknown Regions'[2] Teptixii system[5] Sorro helped the Storm-hair lord sabotage the Chimaera by distracting Pellaeon and the Chimaera's engine room personnel, directing an opera of MSE droids that supposedly located Esva's spies, the Troukree species. While the pilot distracted the Star Destroyer's crew, Esva planted several thermal detonators on the Chimaera's engines, which he detonated shortly after.[2]

After the sabotaged Chimaera arrived in the Candoras sector's Poln system, Sorro donned Esva's clothing and rushed at Pellaeon while he inspected the ship's bridge during a battle between Esva's Eastern Fleet and Imperial forces. Believing him to be the warlord, Pellaeon fatally struck him with an air-filled hypospray and removed his mask to discover that its wearer was Sorro, who asked if he had redeemed his family; the commander responded affirmatively. Shortly after the battle had ended, Imperial Senior Captain Thrawn instructed his ally, Jorj Car'das, to release Sorro's family on Wroona.[2]

Personality and traits[]

"You may also have noticed Sorro's deep unhappiness."
"It was a bit hard to miss."
―Warlord Nuso Esva and Commander Gilad Pellaeon[2]

The man known as Sorro was old by the time he served Esva, and he had a tired appearance and voice. He cared deeply for his family and, according to Esva, did not reveal the warlord's identity to Pellaeon because doing so could compromise them. When Sorro asked Pellaeon if he had lost everything, the pilot compared the commander's losses to as small a thing as a dessert cube.[2]

Equipment[]

"It wasn't Nuso Esva. It was Sorro, dressed in Nuso Esva's mask and clothing."
―Commander Gilad Pellaeon discovers who he murdered[2]

Sorro wore a pilot's attire before donning Esva's mask and clothing.[2]

Behind the scenes[]

Sorro appeared in the 2011 novel Choices of One, which was written by Timothy Zahn.[2]
