A speeder bus on Coruscant
A speeder bus, hoverbus or simply bus was a large repulsorlift vehicle used for group transportation. The AppSci SaberCats of the Junior Academy of Applied Sciences on Lothal used a speeder bus for traveling to grav-ball matches.[2]
GoCorp manufactured the Util-313 speeder bus, an eighteen-meter-long air transport designed for traversing through cities that was used by Galactic Republic senators, high-ranking military personnel, and the Jedi Order. With gullwing doors on either side, the shuttle bus was also surrounded by transparisteel windows, allowing passengers a 360-degree view. As a result of the GoCorp airbus being unarmed, the Galactic Senate deployed fighter escorts for buses that carried high-ranking officials on Coruscant to ensure their safety.[3]
Years before the Galactic Civil War, Okadiah Garson, an inhabitant of the planet Gorse, owned a Mark Six Smoothride hoverbus, which he allowed his friend, Kanan Jarrus to use to carry passengers from the Moonglow facilities to the bars in the area of Gorse known as the Pits.[1]
Cadets hoping to enroll in the Galactic Empire's Imperial Academies often arrived at their planet's academy via hoverbus.[4]
