The Spike was a vast underground prison built in the rocky Aparian Wastes of the planet Serenno. Shaped like an inverted cone set deep within the ground, the facility was divided in ten levels, with the highest-security cells located at the lowest levels. At the time of the Clone Wars, the newly constructed Spike was used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems to hold high-profile prisoners and individuals whom Count Dooku wished to interrogate himself.[1] A prison was also used in Castle Serenno for the same purpose.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
The location was first mentioned in the Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon 70 magazine published by De Agostini.[3] However, the location was first explored in the 2019 sourcebook, Collapse of the Republic.[1] In Star Wars Legends, the location's first appearance was in the eighth issue of the Star Wars: Agent of the Empire comic series published by Dark Horse Comics.[4]
