"Welcome aboard the Spirit of Vengeance, Champion."
―Mandalore the Vindicated to the Grand Champion of the Great Hunt[1]

The Spirit of Vengeance was a large, Mandalorian dreadnaught under the command of Mandalore the Vindicated.

History[]

The massive black-hulled vessel served as the Mandalorian leader's mobile command center during the Cold War, when he was away from his stronghold on the planet Geonosis. Many were said to find the dreadnaught's unique profile and numerous weapon emplacements intimidating. Within the Spirit of Vengeance, was a large hall wherein a conference and dining table was kept, situated before the personal desk of Mandalore, himself. Among the ship's internal stockpile of consumables was a substantial quantity of the Mandalorian black ale, ne'tra gal.[1]

After claiming victory in the Great Hunt—a galaxy-spanning bounty hunting competition—the most recent Grand Champion was summoned to the Spirit of Vengeance by Mandalore the Vindicated. There, the accomplished bounty hunter was introduced to the other living Grand Champions, and was offered a place in Mandalore's clan.[1]

During the war against Zakuul, the Spirit of Vengeance was destroyed. A second vessel was built in its honor soon after.

Behind the scenes[]

The Spirit of Vengeance first appeared in Star Wars canon in the massively multiplayer online game, Star Wars: The Old Republic, created by BioWare and released December 20, 2011.
