"Right after the starting grid we turn into Splinter Pass. One nudge from another racer and you'll end up with a mouth full of durasteel."
―Kidd Kareen, a Podracer pilot, describes Splinter Pass[1]

Splinter Pass was the opening stretch of a Podracing course located on the planet of Mon Gazza, known as the Mon Gazza Maze. Splinter Pass was a large, flat expanse of land dotted with spiked durasteel pillars and totems that were difficult to navigate. Pilots could easily lose track of where they were going and crash, as even the slightest bump from another racer could send a pilot barreling toward one of the sturdy pillars.[1]

Around 22 BBY,[2] during an intergalactic event known as the Clone Wars, the Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano was given a brief description of Splinter Pass by the Twi'lek Podracer Kidd Kareen. Tano later participated in a Maze qualifier and passed through the area while competing against other pilots, such as San Maxus and Raido. Tano, Maxus, and Kareen later passed through the area again during the actual Maze.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Splinter Pass appeared in the comic-book The Clone Wars: Crash Course, which was written by Henry Gilroy, illustrated by the Fillbach Brothers, and released by Dark Horse Comics[1] on December 31, 2008.[3]
