A clone cadet squad training on Kamino.
A squad was generally a part of a larger military formation and consisted of a unit of soldiers or operators,[2] who themselves could be broken down into fire teams.[3]
In the Grand Army of the Republic, a squad was made up of nine clone troopers commanded by a clone sergeant. Each platoon consisted of four squads.[2] In the Stormtrooper Corps, a squad was made up of ten stormtroopers. Each platoon was composed of five squads.[4] Likewise, the First Order's stormtrooper squads were made up of ten troopers,[5] as were squads of Sith troopers in the Sith Eternal military.[6] Each First Order squad contained nine ordinary stormtrooper slots and one specialist slot. This was the standard operational unit for First Order stormtroopers, and squadmates had often trained with each other in large classes known as batches.[5] In the Sith Eternal army, squads were broken down into fire team-level units known as triads.[7]
