The Stacchati were a sentient species. The CZ-series secretary droids CZ-1 and CZ-3 once served members of the species and were modified from standard models to more closely resemble their masters. The changes included alterations to their photoreceptors to give them an appearance similar to that of Stacchati eyes. The two droids were no longer in the species' service after being abandoned following a crash on the planet Tatooine at some point by 0 BBY.
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The Stacchati were first mentioned in the current canon in the 2018 reference book Star Wars: The Complete Visual Dictionary, New Edition, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo and David West Reynolds. They originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where they were first mentioned in the Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary reference book, written by West Reynolds and released in 1998.

- Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope depicts CZ-1 and CZ-3 already abandoned on Tatooine. As Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates the events of A New Hope to 0 BBY, the droids must have been abandoned at some point by that date.
