- "Mooooom! Dad says you aren't allowed to say stang!"
- ―Ben Skywalker
Stang was an Alderaanian swear word[2] popular among people of the galaxy. Anakin Skywalker used the word frequently during his and Obi-Wan Kenobi's mission to Lanteeb.[3] Other notable Jedi, including Mara Jade Skywalker,[4] her son Ben Skywalker and his cousin Jaina Solo Fel also used this word.[5]
The word was also used in phrases such as "one Stang of a time" (used to describe something difficult, e.g., "We'll have one Stang of a time getting them to surface again."),[6] "how the stang,"[7] "scare the stang out of,"[8] "whatever the stang," "what the stang,"[4] "what the stinkin' stang,"[9] "where the stang"[10] and "who the stang."[7] It could also be used as an idiom to show that a person did not care about someone, such as, "Stang the kid anyway."[11] The variant "stanging" could be used as a derogatory modifier, such as, "queen of the stanging Sith."[4]
