Star Wars: Dark Empire collects all six issues from the Star Wars: Dark Empire series of comics. It was released May 1993. A Dark Empire Trade Paperback Preview was released on March 5, 1996. The trade paperback contains a foreword by Kevin J. Anderson detailing current—for the time—development of the Expanded Universe, in addition to endnotes covering many more plot points of the Star Wars universe not covered in the six collected comics. The endnotes were only included in the first and second editions of Dark Empire. By the third edition, the endnotes had been removed altogether.
