Star Wars: Doctor Aphra is a Star Wars comic book series, written by Alyssa Wong and art by Marika Cresta, which takes place between the events of Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, which began publishing digitally on May 4, 2020 and in print on May 27, 2020. It focuses on the titular character Chelli Lona Aphra.
The series was scheduled to begin publishing by Marvel Comics in April 2020,[6] but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all Marvel Comics publications ceased publication starting April 1, 2020.[7] Eventually, Marvel Comics resumed their publishing line on May 27, 2020 and included the first issue of the series in its initial lineup,[2] but the release was moved to May 4 for a digital release.[1]
On November 27, 2023, Wong revealed that the series was set to end with the release of the fortieth issue[4] on January 31, 2024.[3] Doctor Aphra won the 2024 GLAAD award for Outstanding Comic Book.[8]
