The Star Wars: The Last Jedi soundtrack was released on December 15, 2017,[3] the same day as the film itself.[4] As with the previous seven saga films, the score was composed and conducted by John Williams.[3]
The soundtrack's Target Exclusive edition included two exclusive lithograph cards.[5]
Along with the soundtrack for Solo: A Star Wars Story, the soundtrack was nominated for Grammy awards in the categories of Best Instrumental Composition and Score Soundtrack For Visual Media.[6]
The music played as Finn and Rose Tico are about to be executed, the Skywalker lightsaber is split, and the Supremacy is cut in two by Amilyn Holdo's sacrifice climaxes as three notes from Richard Wagner's Siegfried leitmotif that are also played in Revenge of the Sith, when the fallen Anakin Skywalker looks out to the eclipse of Mustafar's star by the planet Jestefad.
