Star Wars is a comic book series published by Dark Horse Comics that began in January 2013.[4][5][6][7][8] It concluded with issue 20 on August 13, 2014.
The series takes place between Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back, dating itself to two months after the Battle of Yavin. However, it heavily conflicts with the preexisting timeline of the Rebel Alliance post-Yavin; per The New Essential Chronology and other sources, the Alliance was trapped on Yavin by the Yavin blockade for the first six months after the battle, but the comics instead depict the Alliance based on their fleet in deep space.
On August 14, 2013, author Brian Wood announced on social media that he was contracted to continue writing for Star Wars through issue twenty, at which time he expected to conclude his writing responsibilities with the series.[9]
