Star Wars 1 is the first issue in the Star Wars comic book series, released in print and digitally on January 9, 2013. The series take place between Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. The book's first printing effectively sold out within a day and a second, with an altered cover, was commissioned in response. This second printing features the cover art unobscured by text.

Publisher's summary

Continuity

A narrative box in the issue states that Alderaan was the first victim of the Death Star. This is not strictly true, as the Death Star had already destroyed the planet Despayre prior to the destruction of Alderaan.
