DANGEROUS LESSONS
After feeling the pull to continue his Jedi
training, Luke Skywalker journeys to
many planets to find anything left of the
Jedi that the Empire had yet to destroy.

With the help of a man once saved by
another Jedi long ago, Luke uses his
connection to the Force to attain a
holocron containing a message from Jedi
Master Yoda….

Plot summary[]

Picking up where the last issue left off, a hologram of Yoda materialized from the Jedi holocron, revealing a lesson on Force visions. Yoda explained that the Force, like an immense sea, is connected to all things, and living beings moving through it create ripples and currents. He mentioned that a Jedi might use these visions to perceive the past, the future, distant locations, and even friends and foes.

The projection faded, leaving Luke Skywalker with a deep sense of contentment, as he felt honored to receive guidance from Yoda, whom he regarded as the wisest Jedi.

Yoda’s hologram reappeared, this time speaking of Jedi temples where the Force is especially strong. He cautioned Luke about powerful convergences, known as vergences, which should only be approached with proper training. He named three of them: the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, the living sea of Gazian, and another on Jedha.

Luke realized that the Gazian system wasn't on the Imperial list of known locations, and he wondered if he had finally discovered a place unknown to the Empire.

Upon arriving at Gazian, Luke was met with an unusual landscape covered in strange mushrooms, into which he promptly fell. Trapped, he was forced to remove his breathalyzer, and upon inhaling the air, he fell into a vision.

In the vision, a man introduced himself as Elzar Mann. Elzar explained that Gazian was a single, massive living organism and a living vergence. He told Luke that the planet could create perfect mental imprints of visitors, preserving them exactly as they were at the time of their visit. Elzar revealed that he was one of these imprints, and that Luke was speaking to a memory of him.

Luke expressed the darkness that had fallen upon the galaxy, and Elzar concluded that he must be dead, otherwise, his name would be known to Luke. They soon realized they both knew Yoda, and Elzar said Yoda was an incredible teacher, even back when he knew him.

Elzar showed Luke a memory of his golden age on Coruscant, which had occurred eight centuries after the Sith Lord Darth Bane's reign ended.

When Luke voiced his fears and doubts, Elzar explained that learning to wield the greatest power in the universe would not be easy but would be well worth the effort. Elzar recounted the difficulties he faced when he was learning to be a Jedi and also emphasized that Luke didn't have to follow the Jedi path, as there were other ways to serve the Force.

Elzar offered Luke the chance to stay and speak with other minds on the planet, but Luke chose to leave. He was freed from the organism, and as he left, he noticed a skeleton holding a book, which he took with him.
