Book IV, Part III REBEL JAIL |
---|
On the Outer Rim world of Ibaar, Han Solo and Luke Skywalker argue about the nerf smuggling job that they undertook to regain the Rebel Alliance funds that Solo had lost while gambling. Skywalker thinks that Han owes him because he took out three Imperial TIE fighters. However, Solo responds that a blind Gungan could have blasted those ships and scolds Skywalker for turning the Millennium Falcon into a barnyard.
Luke suggests doing a few more parsecs and warns Han that Princess Leia Organa will be mad at him for gambling the Alliance's money in a sabacc game. After cleaning out the Falcon, the two argue over the control as they travel to Sunspot Prison.
At Sunspot Prison, an IG-RM bodyguard and enforcer droid chokes Sana Starros. Dr Chelli Lona Aphra struggles to reprogram the droid. The droid is taken out by two blaster bolts fired by Princess Leia Organa. Aphra was upset because she was trying to rewire the droid. Sana tells Leia and Aphra that she was planning to tap into the prison's comm lines so that she could call for help when the droid jumped her. Dr Aphra wants to fix the droid but Starros counters that she let it walk right up on her.
Dr Aphra resents taking orders from Princess Leia, who counters that she should take her chances in her cell. Aphra's estranged friend Starros suggests throwing her into sun. Aphra responds that the two of them would be dead without her. Before an argument can break out, Princess Leia reminds them that the prison is under siege from a madman and that their mission is to get everyone out safely.
They enter one cell block only to find all the prisoners dead. However, the mysterious intruder is able to jam their transmission. Meanwhile, the captive C-3PO warns R2-D2 not to do anything "foolish" since he only got his arms reattached. While the intruder's droids guard the control room, the intruder kills an Imperial prisoner who boasted about killing three Jedi. The intruder tells him that the Emperor was a Sith Lord.
Before Leia and company can reach Cell Eighteen, the intruder opens the airlock, sending several prisoners plummeting to their deaths in the nearby star. As the prisoners scream, the intruder tells Leia that he is a true soldier of the Alliance. While C-3PO and R2-D2 wait for Leia to rescue them, the intruder's droids guard the command center. C-3PO believes they are doomed but R2-D2 shoves him into the leading droid.
As Leia and company fight through the intruder's droids, Aphra manages to reprogram one of the IG-RM droids. They retake the control center and reunite with C-3PO and R2-D2. Princess Leia interrogates one of the droids about the identity of the intruder but the droid responds that "he is trying to teach her something the way you once taught him."
While Aphra and Starros argue about crushes and learning to stab people, Leia warns them to hush as she contacts Han and Luke on via comlink. Han tells Leia that they got her message and that they are heare to save the day. However, the mysterious intruder is looming behind them.
