"With Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker set to premiere later this year, we felt the time was right to develop an accessible storybook series for children. A lot of what's in the marketplace for kids gives just snippets or short versions of the stories, but Star Wars Epic Adventures is a complete retelling of the films. It's a way for parents to share the entire Star Wars story arc with their young readers."
Cynthia Stierle, editorial director of Star Wars Epic Adventures[5]

Star Wars Epic Adventures is a series of young readers books produced by Disney–Lucasfilm Press and Dorling Kindersley and published by Sandvik Publishing. The books were designed to be released in monthly bundles mailed to subscribers of Sandvik's EarlyMoments subscription service. Four monthly drops surrounding the prequel and original trilogy films were planned, but the subscription service was canceled after the second wave of releases.

Development[]

Each monthly release from Star Wars Epic Adventures centered around a specific film in the Star Wars saga and featured a 96-page hardcover illustrated storybook from Disney–Lucasfilm Press retelling the events of the film from C-3PO's perspective. Twelve Galactic Profiles flashcards, a set of 3 exclusive premium stickers, and a reprinted pre-existing sticker book from Dorling Kindersley were also included. The service promised "bonus gifts" each month such as wearable items or a timeline poster. At the launch of the subscription service, monthly drops for all films in the prequel trilogy and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope were planned.[6]

The first monthly package, featuring content from Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, was released in May 2019[5] and featured an illustrated storybook that adapted events from the film. It was written by S.T. Bende with art by Brian Rood. Also included were twelve The Phantom Menace-themed flashcards, also written by Bende,[1] and Ultimate Sticker Book: Star Wars: Jedi vs. Sith from Dorling Kindersley.[6]

Star Wars Epic Adventures wave 4

Due to the subscription service's cancelation, the fully finished A New Hope book and accompanying flashcards were never published.

The second monthly drop focused on Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones and was shipped to subscribers in June 2019. The drop's centerpiece was an illustrated storybook by Ivan Cohen with art by Brian Rood. More flashcards by S.T. Bende were featured as well as a reprinting of Ultimate Sticker Book: Star Wars: Droids in Battle from Dorling Kindersley.[2]

After the second monthly drop, the subscription service was canceled and no further titles were published. Despite the cancelation, content for a planned third monthly drop featuring content from Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith was completed and assets were printed. The release would have featured an illustrated storybook by Brooke Vitale with art by Brian Rood, additional Galactic Profiles flashcards by S.T. Bende, and a reprinting of Ultimate Sticker Book: Star Wars: Dark Beginnings from Dorling Kindersley.[3]

The fourth monthly drop would have featured content from Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope including an illustrated storybook by Ivan Cohen with art by Brian Rood and additional flashcards by S.T. Bende.[7] The fifth monthly drop would have featured content from Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back and would have featured an illustrated storybook and accompanying flashcards by S.T. Bende.[8]
