The Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope Remastered Soundtrack is a soundtrack album that was released by Walt Disney Records in 2018.
Background[]
After Walt Disney Records reacquired the rights from Sony Classical, they put together a team at Skywalker Sound, whitch consisted of Leslie Ann Jones, all the while being supervised by Shawn Murphy, to create remastered versions of the OST albums for the first 6 films.[1] These were not just retransfers of the OST master like the Sony Ultimate Digital Collection had been, rather these would be ground-up rebuilds from the original session elements, newly transferred and remastered. Not much information about the behind-the-scenes creation of these releases is available to the public yet, so it is unknown what tapes were transferred for these, just that they were the "best-available"[2], and that they contained the original Eric Tomlinson film mixes, and not the John Neal mixes that were used on the original OST master.[3][4]
