Star Wars Zero Company is an upcoming canon single-player turn-based tactics video game developed by Bit Reactor partnered with Electronic Arts's Respawn Entertainment and published by EA and Lucasfilm Games, set to release in 2026.[1]
Set between the events of Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, the game will see players take control of former Galactic Republic officer Hawks, a fully customizable character, as they lead Zero Company on covert missions fighting against a adversary threatening the entire galaxy. The group will feature a pre-written group of former soldiers and mercenaries from diverse and conflicting backgrounds, which, like Hawks can be heavily customized, as well as original custom characters created by the player. Additionally the players choices will influence the direction of the game's story, which according to Orion Kellogg, has been influenced by Andor and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.[1] Among others the game will also feature bond systems between the characters and the players main base will feature a detailed interactive map of the galaxy.[4]
Development[]
The video game was announced on January 25, 2022 alongside Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and a new first-person shooter video game.[2] Previously, EA had reported a new Star Wars video game in development during a 2019 investors' call.[7] Early in development, author Alexander Freed met with Bit Reactor and worked on Zero Company.[8] According to Freed, his contributions were minor.[9] On March 2, 2024, amidst a wave of lay-offs at Electronic Arts and the cancellation of Respawn Entertainment's first-person shooter project,[10] Bit Reactor confirmed that their untitled game was still in active development.[11] The game was first pitched to Lucasfilm by the game director of Bit Reactor, Greg Foertsch after being approached for a Star Wars game by Respawn's CEO Vince Zampella.[4]
On April 14, 2025, the game was officially unveiled,[12] with a first look held at Celebration Japan on April 19.[1] Freed was happy to finally see the game announced and revealed the role he had played in its development on April 19,[8] further stating he did not wish to overstate the role he had played. Instead, he brought attention to "the top-tier team of designers, writers, artists, cinematics folk," and more at Bit Reactor.[9]
