A starpilot training device was a satellite-based orbital device used to train starfighter pilots. It would release a salvo of non-lethal lasers when fired upon.

At least one was present in Coruscant's orbit around the time of its fall to the Yuuzhan Vong in 27 ABY. During an escape from the planet by Jedi Master Corran Horn in 29 ABY, it was employed by Horn to distract and hinder a pursuing flight of coralskippers.
