The Steadfast was a Star Destroyer in the Imperial Navy during the Imperial Era.[1] In 6 BBY,[3] the Imperial officer Enric Pryde was posted on the vessel, following his advanced placement at the Alsakan Academy. Pryde served on the ship into the Galactic Civil War, up until the Battle of Jakku[1] in 5 ABY,[2] where the Galactic Empire fought against the New Republic.[1]

In the battle, the Steadfast was destroyed, leading Pryde to flee into the Unknown Regions. He would later rise in the ranks of the First Order, the Empire's successor, eventually being issued command of a Resurgent-class Star Destroyer[1] in 28 ABY[4] by the First Order's Supreme Leader, Snoke. The command ship was also named Steadfast, in honor of Pryde's old Star Destroyer.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The Steadfast was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in the 2019 reference book Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary by Pablo Hidalgo, which accompanied the film Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker.[1]

In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Steadfast was an Imperial-class Star Destroyer in the Imperial Navy. The vessel first appeared in the comic Crimson Empire 4, written by Mike Richardson and Randy Stradley, illustrated by Paul Gulacy,[5] and released on March 18, 1998.[6]
